This CQI approved PT206: Managing Supply Chains course is aimed at learners who wish to develop practical skills in the context of managing supply chains. Learners will leave the course with the capability to explain to others how supply chain requirements relevant to their organisation can be used to develop and manage the supply base.
This course will provide the practical skills required to manage a broad range of supplier activities. Learners will leave the course with the capability to assess the approaches taken by suppliers, support the selection of suppliers, measure supplier performance, manage supply chain risks and encourage suppliers to take a process approach to management and drive improvement.

Description
This course will enable you to:
- communicate quality and other requirements to suppliers/external providers in a clear and unambiguous way.
- work with suppliers/external providers to understand their approach to establishing customer requirements and how they translate these into operational processes.
- use risk assessment tools to determine the level of risk posed by a supplier/external provider, giving consideration to both the abilities of the supplier/external provider and the nature of the product/service they provide.
- carry out an evaluation of alternative suppliers/external providers using methods like surveys, audits, process and documentation reviews, certificates of conformity, inspection records, test certificates and third party certification.
- communicate the audit process and preparation required with external provider/suppliers.
- review and discuss findings from an audit with external providers/suppliers and turn findings into opportunities for improvement or risk mitigation.
- list the requirements of ISO 9001 for ‘external providers’.

This course is aimed at personnel who wish to develop practical skills in the context of managing supply chains.
Requirements
Whilst there are no formal requirements, it is recommended that learners complete FD107 Introduction to Management Systems.
